Color of the Day: Pinkish Orange

So yesterday I decided to take B to the doctor to make sure he didn't have an ear infection cause after a couple weeks of having a cold he was still pretty stopped up and not sleeping and eating quite as well as usual. I was fully prepared for embarassment when the doctor told me he was perfectly fine and not to be afraid of a little snot, but turns out mom knows best (at least this time). Double ear infection. So we're going pink again thanks to the lovely antibiotic and the lovely mess it makes. Yay for pink drool.
Also in the news today, B loves sweet potatoes. But really who doesn't?? We've been eating cereal for about a month now ("eating" is pushing it. more like "sneaking it in when he's not looking") but lately he's been very tight lipped about the whole thing. I've tried all the airplane noises, flying spoon tricks, and seminars on how to open the mouth to no avail. So I was thinking of laying off the cereal for a bit cause "maybe he's just not ready" but decided with the suggestion of a friend to try another food just to see how it went. Well it went. Went everywhere. He loves the stuff, and he also likes the oatmeal much better than the rice cereal. So I guess I was really the only one who was not ready for the next big stage. Here's some picks from our first day of "real food".

Mess

Sorry for the changes. I'm spending hours trying to find the perfect blog design, so until then you'll have to excuse the mess. If you would like to give your two cents feel free to leave a comment.

Today I went Traveling

After dining at the new Oak Tree Bistro with friends, I was in line to order my coffee drink and lo and behold - Bubble Tea on the menu. Nia Cha is one of those foods I have a weird emotional connection to. I like dill pickles because my dad likes dill pickles, and I of course like my dad. I like pumpernickel bread because it reminds me of trips to grandpa's log cabin by the lake. I hate hominy because one night as a kid my parents made me sit till I ate it. I gagged. I drink Milk Tea because amazingly enough it transports me from wherever I am to Taipei - to the condo I stayed in, to the subway we rode on, to the night market's smells, to streets lined with thousands of scooters, to the universities and friends we made there, to the karaoke hotels, to the misty mountains and tropical hiking. I miss that place. So today I went back just for a few minutes. Then I sneezed and had to come back. I'm getting over a cold.

Project Runway Here I Come

Who needs Vera Weng when you have a Melissa Rogers original (original as in originally it was a pattern I bought at the store). Although I doubt Vera has to call her mom to come sew on all her zippers. Oh well. It didn't fall apart at the wedding so that's all that really matters.

Sorry for the week without posts. In a nutshell we...
drove many many hours in the car, saw our wonderful family, introduced B to his great grandpa, B learned to roll over, drove many more hours in the car, got home and crashed, worked, thought about cleaning the trashed house but didn't, went to school board debate (girlfriend from church is campaigning), sewed frantically on dress for Nate's wedding (couldn't find required red dress), worked, searched all of Russellville for the perfect necklace (apparently all red apparel has been discontinued), bought B socks instead, finished dress at 1am night before, up at 7 for running (and walking) group, more shopping for necklace, hung with more wonderful family before wedding, oh no running late, headed to wedding, left only red necklace left in universe on kitchen counter, wedding wonderful wedding, party party, to bed way too late, hung with wonderful family again, lunch and shopping with friends, financial class, stayed up way too late reading Harry Potter, sleep blessed sleep. Some kinda crazy week.

Running

Guys, running makes you tired. Before you decide to get into it, just know that I warned you. Your legs will be sore, your butt will be sore (mine mostly from jiggling), and you will just want to sleep at the end of the day. Which is convenient since that's typically what you do at the end of the day. I know all of this because I'm really tired and I've only been walking:)
